hallo jaya mami,
how are you. shall i tell you the way of making sambar podhi.
take a cup of tur dal, channa dal and half a cup of urad dal. take medium size kada asafotida(kada means a lump of asafotida). roast this asafotida in a spoon oil in the kadai. take it out and roast the three dals with the required quantity of chill (red chillies ,( a mix of guntur chilli and bedgi chilli) will be very tastey). little quantity of kasskasa. after roasting all these items make it a coarse powder the mixi.

Here is one good recipe
Ingredients:
4 tablespoons coriander seeds
2 tablespoons chana dal
2 tablespoons toor dal
2 teaspoons cumin seeds
2 teaspoons whole black peppercorns
4 teaspoons brown mustard seeds
1 teaspoons fenugreek seeds
2 2-inch pieces cinnamon stick
30 fresh curry leaves
2 teaspoons turmeric
1 tablespoon chili powder
Method:
Dry roast all ingredients except turmeric and chili powder in a heavy skillet over medium fire until lightly toasted. Grind to a powder in a blender or on stone. Put through sieve then mix with turmeric and chili powder.
