A short intro on Camus: For the uninitiated Camus
is a French literateur and chiefly writes about existentialist philosophy. His novel the Fall is one of the greatest existentialist piece of semi-classical piece ever written. Then there is myth of sisyphus, which is a philosophical essay on suicide and the motivation for man when all morals breakdown and he/she is faced with absurdity. The other works by him include, The Stranger, The Plague, A Happy Death and Caligula & 3 plays.

I know of Camus in a "general" sense, but the finer points of existential philosophy (i.e. reading it as is) simply bores me. That is why I read Dostoevskii; he breathes life and understanding into the dry physics of the philosopher.......
That is why I read Camus as a novelist, prose writer, more than his actual documents.
With Kafka it is the same.
Dostoevskii seemed to hit it all....... including that Man/Superman fellow.
If someone knows of a way to read these brilliant fellows without (too much) pain, please let me know.

I liked Camus while as a student in the turbulent 1970s.A few months ago I again read some of his works.I am still overwhelmed by his writings.I do not think that every one must like Camus.Like other things your medicine could be my poison in reading also.Just finished reading Vikram Seth's "A Suiltable Boy" after a friend talked higly of the novel.I found it not at all to my liking.

Camus is a writer, thinker, philosopher whose ideas seem to constantly overcome the flight of time. A must read to everyone who "thinks about life".
