The controversial CHAKRAM finally releases..Action movie.....with lots of travelling and fights. Chandrahasan (Prithvi) was a big ticket lorry owner. He made all his fortune betting on playing cards. But one of his partners eventually cheat him, and he ends up losing everything. Chandrahasan is now out to find him. "Noolunda" vijesh plays Prithvi's closest friend and the lorry's "killi". Indra (Meera Jasmine) sells Pan parag at lorry terminals for a living. Many drivers eye her, but Chandrahasan marries her.
Well, for one thing the screenplay is kept taut, so minimum boredom. The downside is the audience is left expecting something every moment...but nothing happens. Prithvi has given a more matured performance...but a "Mohanlaliness" lingers. Meera Jasmine's character is not that strong as in swapnakoodu or Kasthooriman. She doesn't show up until second half. Noolunda steals the show..handles humor very well...does the supporting role very convincingly. Songs look like fast tamil numbers.
It's obvious, there's been no post production...an entire stunt scene has been deleted midway. prod. values are low...shot mostly in lorries and shacks.
Lohithadas should let go of his outdated directing style. His stories and scripts are superb....but he delves into aspects like violence and sexuality with an iron-hand...something like an "in your face" treatment.
Things like Meera Jasmine being stalked....and then giving birth and such things...looks totally disproportionate and unconvincing.
Let's wait and see how Johnny Sagarika's version of "Chakram" comes out. All in all a 6/10 movie.
Guys...please post your ratings too.
