Hai
Recently a Telugu film, "NarasimhaNaidu" ran 100 days in 105 theatres and expected to collect between Rs.35-40 crores. This is the only regional movie in India celebrated 100 days in more than 100 centres, a new South Indian Film Industry record.

RJ,
The hero of the movie is Balakrishna(Son of late N.T.Ramarao),heroines are Simarn and preeti Zingania.
The movie is based on Factionasim, which is existing in some parts of AndhraPradesh(eg:Rayalaseema area).some of the reasons for this success may be, Hero's execellent performance, storyline and lavishly picturised songs,

Raju...
Trust me when I say...the film "Narasimha Naidu" is no great shakes that everyone must see it. The film is sort of a serial to another megahit film based on the same subject by the same hero, Samarasimhareddy. No technical greats, nor any great songs but it is a hit because of its Rayalaseema background. The hero has great fan following from that area. His none other than late NT. Roa's son. The film was made to cater to his fans. Also...the faction subject is pretty strong there if the right kind of treatment is given. I don't believe the film will appeal to people of other states.
But guess what...the remake of "Niram" starring Kunchako Boban and Shalini is running really well. The telugu verion stars Tarun(elder brother in "anjali" for Baby Shyamalee") and Richa. The latter won the filmfare for the movie and the film won regional National Award. The film has been running for more than 175 days in about 27 centres. That is an awesome achievement by any standard. They must thank malayalam film industry for the victory!

Dear aruvi,
you wrote:
"No technical greats, nor any great songs but it is a hit because of its Rayalaseema background."
You are totally wrong, if its runs well only beacuse of Rayalaseema Background, then what about the other movies which were made on the same background went on disasters(eg: Rayalaseema Ramanna Chowdary, for which superstar Rajani writes the screenplay)
We should appreciate this victory for the Hero's terrific performance, Direction and its screenplay. Running a regional film 100 days in more than 100 theatres is not a small thing.

Doesn't this give an idea to what I thought about the screenplay. Of course, the screenplay is slick in this film. If I had said the 'wrong' kind of treatment:-) then your statement would be valid. But you have to admit, I do have a point when I said all that. After all, it isn't a new fact that Balayya's biggest crowd are them. His efforts with B.Gopal have always turned out well, but the last two were his biggest hits. If you look, nothing after SSR and until NN were able to be termed hits. Beyond that, of course, the achievement of having a film run 100 days in 105 centers is great, and I wasn't denying that. I was just telling them that the film may not appeal to those of other states largely due to the unfamiliar topic and other issues...you should know what they are. Not everyone's tastes are the same.
As far as films on that subject being hits...like you said, a good screenplay could do wonders. As far as Rayalaseema Ramana Chowdhary is concerned, the film lacks all qualities of being termed a good film. It had uncle "Mohanbabu" in the lead, and just because Rajni wrote the screenplay doesn't mean that it should do wonders. Rajni is an actor and not a director, and frankly, I don't have any clue as to why he would venture into an unknown field. To strengthen my point, just look at Preminchukundam raa' and 'Samarasimhareddy'. They both had a great run because both had a fresh treatment and good screenplay which was appreciated by the audience. I mean, they are X number of directors who will copy someone else's theme and try to make a hit, but the final product will tell you who has the brains and who is nothing more than a untalented copycat.

I heard about this movie from my Telugu friends and I have seen it very recently. I was very much involved while watching this movie. Infact I could not understand the many of the dialogues and scens, but still I enjoyed the emotional scenes and songs. At last I feel its worth watching such a movie with powerful subject and any onc irrespective of the language can watch this movie.

Language is not entirely important in India if the film is appealing. Didn't HAHK shake all of India all though how many people speak Hindi? I mean, the film was running really well in TN and people who didn't know the language were watching repeatedly because the subject was about a 'too good to be true' family. So if the subject is close to you, then you would like the movie. Or if you are aware. But NN...I don't know. Even SSR, they dubbed in Tamil but it had no takers.

"Even SSR, they dubbed in Tamil but it had no takers"
That is because he didnot act in any direct tamil movies, hence he is not so popular in Tamilnadu.
But being optimistic I am sure if SSR is remade in Tamil, it would definietely be a hit film.

aruvi & co.
what exactly is a 'rayalaseema' back drop?
i am just fascinated by what a hit this film is and am just fascinated to see it.
also , looking at the stills of the film on the net, were some songs pictured in UK/europe? bcs i am getting fed up with just a song sequence in europe/australia/N zealand... look at 'badri'...why go to swiss just to show a song.

NN's songs were shot in Canada too. My sister was in downtown toronto and they were shooting at Parliament street with Simran and Balakrishna. She watched for a minute and she says that the costumes were awful and that Balakrishna really looked old in real life:-)
