Sarika sulks as Kamal hits it off with Simran

Reports of a rift in actor Kamal Hassan's marriage have once again surfaced in a section of the local media. A leading Tamil bi-weekly reported that Kamal and Sarika are heading for a split, that too very soon.
Film columns have been buzzing with reports that all is not well between the two after Sarika fell from the balcony of their house in Chennai last June.
It was then speculated that the fall was not an accident but an attempted suicide.
Sarika was rushed to Mumbai's Leelavati Hospital for treatment. It was found that Sarika had suffered spinal fractures. She underwent an operation and staged a quick recovery.
While some wondered why Sarika had to go to Mumbai for treatment when Chennai too boasted of good hospitals, reports said that Kamal visited his wife only once while she was in hospital.
One report said that the couple planned to call it quits after the release of Abhay, which was then under production. Abhay came and went, but the couple stayed together. Fans and friends of the actor were relieved when the marriage did not break up contrary to reports.
What Abhay failed to do, Kamal's latest film Pammal K Sambandam threatens to do, if reports are to be believed. Industry gossip is that Kamal has hit it off with Simran, Sambandam's lead girl, who was earlier linked to another actor, known for his gyrations.
Industry old-timers believe Sarika is reaping what she sowed. Sarika wrecked Kamal's first marriage to danseuse Vani Ganapathy.
Kamal and Vani were married in 1978. Their marriage is said to have entered troubled waters after a few years. In 1983, while Vani was on a sojourn to America, Kamal and Sarika reportedly became closer.
After her return, a fuming Vani is said to have confronted Sarika publicly and abused her for stealing her man. The incident was then widely reported in the tabloid press.
Ever since, Vani has taken to her first love, dance, and is said to be remaining single.
In 1985, Kamal and Sarika's first daughter Shruti was born. In 1991, their second daughter, Akshahra, was born.
Sarika, who affectionately calls hubby as Kamalji, designs the costumes for Kamal movies. She even won an award for her work in the much-acclaimed Hey Ram.
