Hi everyone. Cine here. Staying in Singapore. I went to see Virumaandi in a theathre here. Show was fully packed. Workers from India any my own fellow Singaporeans were in the theathre too. I was seated at the last third row. Last two roles were completely filled by India workers. As the movie started, whistles were flying all over the place. There's nothing wrong about that. Me myself enjoyed those whistles sound too. As Kamal entered on the screen, Whistles again fled, i enjoyed again. But as the movie went on, those Indians at the last two rows, started critisizing to film. I honestly didnt enjoyed that. Comments like, " Padam hit aagaathu, Kamalhaasan veenaa pona kilavan ", started to pass by. I am sure that these comments were by those Indians sitting behind me, as those comments were passed from the back of me. I am so sure as there wasnt a single Singaporean sitting at the last two rows. Frankly, i just felt like slapping those fellows. I mean, if they had passed their comments silently, or had passed among themselves, i wouldnt have minded, but it was so loud as the whole theatre could hear it. There were a lots of patrons with their family in the theatre watching the movie. I am not critisizing all Indians. Even some Indians were sitted in the front rows, they were seriously watching the picture. I was so worried that the poor patrons, including me, had a hard time watching the movie as those Indians were behaving in such a annoying manner. This was the most awaited picture and all the fans would have came to the theatre with much expectations and there were these people distrupting others. Even if the picture wasnt had been nice, they could have critisised the picture after the show among themselves and not during the show itself.
And personnely i feel that Virumaandi is the best picture of the millenium after Kannathil Mutthamittal and Pithamagan. According to me, those who said this movies sucks, frankly, doesnt have a movie taste at all..
And for god damn sake, if u reading these and are one of those gang member distrupting people in the midshow, please try to stop that!
(NOTE: This incident happened not for only Virumaandi, but for all shows i went in Singapore)

Oh ,this happens there also, lol i had the same experience when i went to watch 'Kannathil muthamittal' in Devi theatre, Chennai, there were some college guys with their groups ridiculing the movie, and a similar experience of ppl ridiculing the movie happened in 'Anbe sivam' and that was in a local theatre.

The chances of such people reading this post is very slim. I know what you mean. That's one of the reasons, why I resent going to the theatres. Sometimes, there will be this a$$hole who will be watching the movie for the 100th time and he will relating to his friend the scene that is going to come next!
You can never educate these people on how to behave. Only in tamil films, if it is a suspense thriller, the director of the film has to plead with the audience beforehand, not to reveal the ending to anyone.

You can't educate the Indian Tamils, they are a miserable lot.. very loud ... same with the expats (professionals) and their kids ...hear their loud fualt finding comments of our local Singapore Hindu temples (which are very clean and professionally managed).
They have a complex problem so they need to be loud ..

Mr.Raj,
Cut your Crap..I can also list what kind of loads of complexes, you local singaporeans have..Then the discussion will be endless..try to avoid these kind of silly comments in public place like this, which must be useful to unite all of us TAMILS,not to divide and fight.

Cine,
This problem is not new..That too when you watch more depth movies like Virumaandi and anbe sivam. There are many people who will never involve with movies and just 'Nuni pul Meithal'.Probably they are fed up with 'Virumaandi' ,because they couldn't find much scenes of Hero worshipping, for them to whistle and clap, the only thing they know..
This happened to me when I watched 'Moga Mul' at Devi theatre,Chennai. Some idiots keep on passing comments for all serious scenes and making fun..I have lost my patience and told them mildly "Yenpa..Ungalukkaga thaan pakkathu theatre-la chiranjeevi-oda dupping padam pottirukkangale..athukku poga vendiyathu thane..atleast naangalavathu nimmathiya padam pakkalamla.." ..Then they shut up till the end.
I don't say you must also comment them like this..some people will react differently .This comes from common sense, not distrubing others in public place..
One of the reasons for this is,sometimes when such idiots pass comments like this, some other people used to laugh for it as if they had big joke..so these guys got encouraged and think that everybody listening to them..We can't cure this disease in one day..Better way to improve is ..try to make them understand that others are distrubed by them, otherwise atleast don't encourage them and better ignore them..

I too have come across such 'disturbing' experiences. Fortunately there werent' any when I watched "Virumandi" yesterday. The theatre was packed but every one got involved with the movie and enjoyed it. No disturbance at all.
And regarding Virumandi, I saw the movie yesterday!! Great movie!! Different approach, scenes are realistic and excellent performance by all. Kamal Hassan as a director has shown "perfection" in every scene by paying attention to minute matters. Must watch it again!

Please unload your loads of complexes the local Singaporean Tamils have.
That will be the reflection of those of your kind's "superiority" complex, who have a condescending attitute towards locals.

Hi guys wants happening! Joe and Raj, come down. The purpose of this forum is to discuss and give our view. Not to fight and divide our self. cool down. Firstly I understand Mr. Raj's experience. This thing is happening every where. Not only in Singapore and it's not only done by India tamils. So we have to behave ourself when we go to teater.
OK guys!!!!!!!! Anyway Virummandi movie was OK but I think not as good as Anbe Sivam.

Joe is right to say that it's not only Indian nationals who do things like this. Years ago when I saw Talapathy, it was Singaporean Indians who did the hooting and shouting, and as a Singaporean, I feel ashamed of such behaviour. Sometimes I feel that these guys just want to do this for the attention. Or even as Joe said """Probably they are fed up with 'Virumaandi' ,because they couldn't find much scenes of Hero worshipping, for them to whistle and clap, the only thing they know.."""
Clapping and cheering is pretty common everywhere; when I saw Panchatahnthiram here in Brisbane, the Indians here too clapped and cheered. No one critised or disrupted the movie with silly jokes while the dialogue is happening.
PS: Kumar (@ 219.95.161.227), sorry if I am using the same name; I've been using it for 3 years on the forum.

Dear Raj,
I said I can,but I won't do it here.I don't want to comment my fellow tamilians in public place like this, not only because I must be greatful Singapore where I am working, but also I don't want to fight with my Tamil brothers which will create unnecessary misunderstanding between us..If you are really concerned and geniune to discuss this issue,if you don't mind give your email address,I cam send you a email. Thanks for understanding.
