AR Rahman comes first as far as the appreciation outside Tamil Nadu. He is appreciated in Bollywood and making an entry to Hollywood as well., I heard 'Bombay Dreams' project is successful
Then comes Rajini, for his great mark in Japan. Well known as Dancing Maharaj.
But Ironically the best two of Tamil Film Industry, Sivajai and Ilayaraja are not well recognised outside India even outside TN . Though Sivaji got 'Chevaliyae' from France Govt. and IR scored 'Symphony'.it's unfortunate that they are not well recognized outside TN, I would say.
Also Kamal, if not outside India, he is recognized as the one of the best actor in India.
As a Tamil, I'm proud of ARR , Rajini and others.
Ur comments are welcome

Very Simple
MANI RATNAM
A R REHMAN
P C SREERAM
Ask any filmmaker to go through their super combination in "Patchai Nirame".
All of them will gape with their mouths wide open
