The Riverside International Film Festival returned for its second year with a doubled scope of over 25 titles shown over two weekends and the intervening weeknights. As before, the RIFF presented some of the latest films from across the globe including Oscar submissions and runners-up, international festival prize winners, low-budget independents from up-and-coming directors, and top industry box office hits. The non-exclusive theme of RIFF 2003 was films made by and about women and dealing with women’s issues. RIFF 2003 continues the tradition of bringing different ethnic communities from throughout the Southland and our friends from abroad together in Riverside to enjoy each other’s movies. The festival awards prizes including an audience award and jury prizes given by a prominent industry jury.

The Venue: January 24-30, Globe Market Place Cinemas, at Metrolink Station, 4040 Vine Street, Riverside, CA; January 31-February 2 TBA, 683-6065 or 910-0688 for info; opening gala January 24, tent at Market Place Cinemas, 683-6065 for an invitation; “Second Night” celebration oriented toward students and showing student film in tent at Market Place Cinemas and continuing at Coffee Depot, 785-2081

Special Award of 2002: Chihwaseon - Korea - Im Kwon Taek

  How popular and hoe celebrated is this RIFF?
  
  If someone could provide me with some details about the significance of 'Hey Ram' winning this award that'd be great.
  
  It is well-known that 'Hey Ram' is probably the most daring film made in india as far as thematic content and narrative finesse are concerned.

  Dr No Brain Neo Morpheus, use a Gadda paarai to set your brain right in the correct position. I heard a pigs brain was inserted into you miraculously by Goddess Kusbhoo. You need to use a Gadda paarai and fit it in exactly according to the standards adopted by the Soolai gang of Drs Tindivanam Tamil Azhagan, Thalaivatti Karuppan and Tamil Ninja and God Dr Soba Bottle Munchami
