Kamal Haasan is on top again
Finally, Kamal Haasan has made it. After delivering duds in a row, he’s delivered a huge hit this time. His directorial venture, VIRUMAANDI, is drawing huge crowds. Of the five films that were released on Pongal, only Kamal’s film turned out to be big hit. Dhanush’s PUTHUKOTTAYILIRUNDU SARAVANAN, Shimbu’s KOVIL, Prasanth’s JAI are big losers. Vijayakanth’s ENGAL ANNA is yet to pick up the collections. Here is the status of the each film.
Top Film: VIRUMAANDI
It has received great reviews from the media. Everyone is raving about Kamal, the director. It has innovative narration and rural feel. The film is doing good business in A centers and in area areas the business is above average. It is Kamal’s own film. It remains to be seen the same trend will continue in further weeks too.
Average film: ENGAL ANNA
Though the audiences are enjoying the comedy in the film, it is yet to pick up the collections. Vijaykanth’s fans are happy but the film would only click when the family audiences flock the theatre. With right promotion, it has scope for becoming good hit.
The losers
PUTHUKOTTAYILIRUNDU SARAVANAN
The film was a big bet before the release but it turned out to be one-week film. For the first time, Dhanush is having a flop in his four films career. Distributors would lose money heavily on this film.
KOVIL
Director Hari’s third film, KOVIL, didn’t bring cheers to the Shimbu. After ALAI, he has delivered another dud.
JAI
The film released without the publicity, many people didn't even know that the film is released. Film flopped miserably. Prasanth’s career is really in danger.
