i would like to start this thread with reference to the thread started by gayathri chow "do tamil movies respect females".
in HEY RAM, people only noticed those kissing and bedroom scenes and blamed kamal ,saying that he doesnt have any respect for women.
but ,if u notice ,he portrayed women in a most intresting way. he showed them as brave people, even more stronger than men. Rani with a gun to protect herself during the beggining, Vasndra Das - was not that dejected finding that her husband is not normal and also she was ready to face the world even after kamal went away from her. So,is Hemamalini who looked brave and intelligent.
so ,is Sharukhs Mom and wife and other women in the soda factory. so does the "patti" who comes in the last scene.
who said people dont respect women in movies. it happens! but very ralrely, yet the irony is those movies are unnoticed by people.
folks ,what do u think about this?

put a black dot in a white card board...now how many of us see the rest of the white board? All we see is the dot in a big pice of white board

Raju, oh podu rani was slapped at the end of the song for exploiting Vikram and making a fool out of him in front of his girlfriend and future in-laws.
K.Arvind, u're right in some movies the actresses are respected, like in K.Balachander's film. But no one is saying that they're not respected at all.
The issue is whether there's more respectable roles than those sleazy or bimbotic roles. You must admit that tamil filmworld is a male dorminated industry.
Hey Ram is not exactly a perfect example cos the entire film was based on Kamal alone. The rest of the casts were like 'guest-stars'.
