KavippErarasar has done thamizh proud again!:-)

Vairamuthu - has been widely acknowledged as "the poet" among Lyricists, has won the National Award for Best Lyrics for the fifth time in his career, for the Film "kannaththil muthamittAl".

The Previous films were :

1. "poongAtru thirumbumA" - "mudhal mariyAdhai"

2. "chinna chinna Asai" - "rOjA"

3. "pOrALE ponnuthAyi" - "karuththammA"

4. "mudhal muRai" - "sangamam"

and now

5. "pudhu deivam tntha poovE" - "kannaththil muthamittAl"


Bollywood's celebrated hindhi lyricists/poets Javed Akhthar and Gulzar have both openly acknowledged that 'Vairamuthu is the Poet's Poet!".

KannadhAsan would have been very proud of Vairamuthu, if he had been alive in the present day. Vairamuthu would continue to enrich thamizh and enthrall thamizh people for many many years to come.

Let us all, thamizh people, share this happy moment and send our wishes and congratulations to the great poet-lyricist!:-)

  you r right! I too can't remember the kavithai. But i know that it was written in early 1980s. I shall try and figind that kavithai from vairam's old kavithai thokuppukaL.

  Congratulations kavipperarsu Vairmuthu. In the era of music dominance we hardly get to hear any lines written by lyrics writer but still vairamuthu lines are visible. That itself talks lot about the tremendous talent of this poet.

  Poi doen't mean lie.It signifies the exagerration(can we use someother appropriate word here?,comment pls) incorporated into the poem,just to make the point more strong and clear.That makes a 'Kavithai' more interesting and timeless.

  In one of Vairamuthu's book release function, I came to know of an interesting information. The National awards were started by the Indian government in the year in which Vairamuthu was born. One of the speakers in the function said that "virudhu vaanguvadhaRkaagevE piRandhavan nee..!!" and "unakkaagavE thuvangappattathu virudhu..!!" Although an exaggeration, this seems very appropriate..!!
