With all the IT superiority Indians talk about, they cant come up with a simple database that measures accurate box office collections in the state. All i see is hits and misses from the media. These are easily done in Uk and States.
Time to learn simple things from the West.

Radha
They said Gilli WILL gross more than Padayappa. They didn't say Gilli HAS grossed more than Padayappa.
Understand the difference.
From Gilli's massive opening week collections it is predicted that Gilli will easily beat Padayappa's record. That's all.Gilli is in its 3rd week only, so It'll take some time.

padayappa recored is older one, autograph is the latest film to beat it and gilli has not, please wait and see, dont judge juz in 14 days and virumaandi had done a new ecord of running 25 days in 300 theatres, its first week collection , that is opening collection is a great record much bigger than any rajni film, so each film is in success in a different way

In Bangalore Gilli run only 3 week.
In Last 1 year, movies run in Bangalore are Virumandi-5 week,Boyd-5 week,Autograph-4 week.
So Gilli is an Average Movie.

The A.M.Ratnam, Dharani, Vijay combination has struck gold with Ghillli that is turning out to be a mega-blockbuster. In the long run the film is going to be a bigger hit than Rajnikanth’s Padayappa!

In Madurai area, one time citadel of Rajnikanth, Ghillli has already got a distributors' share of over Rs 1.05 Crore in 25 days! Ultimately in the long run the film will surely break the Padayappa distributors' share of Rs 1.62 Crore.
In Coimbatore city Ghillli opened in six screens simultaneously and in two weeks has taken a share of over Rs 35 lakhs. In Chennai city at the Udayam complex alone the film is likely to collect a distributors' record share of Rs 40 lakhs!

Tamil and Hindi films have taken over the Kerala summer box-office while Malayalam films are floundering!
Among the Vishu releases only Vinayan’s Vellinakshatram and Rafi Mecartin’s Chathikatha Chanthu are doing average business at the box-office. Mammootty’s Vajram after taking a good initial has fallen while Mohanlal’s Vismayathumbathu is a flop. Dileep’s Runway released last week is doing above average business but cannot be classified a hit.

So what do the Kerala’s young audience do? They make a beeline to see Vijay or Shah Rukh Khan leaving Mohanlal and Mammootty behind. Films like Gilli and Main Hoon Na have taken an excellent opening.
