Tamil movies are sliding downwards in terms of quality movies.People like Vijay or other masala heros who's only concept is making money are to be kicked out of cinema.The Quality of movies coming out is so Bad.Take a Look at the Pongal release movies only Anbe Sivam was a quality and Different type of movie.The others are Shit!!!!.
Why can't the tamil people change the mindset.Anbe Sivam is not doing well in terms of Box-office collection.Look at Dhool a crap story is doing wonders at the box-office.

I wonder what would tamil cinema like without Kamalhaasan or Mani-Retnam???.I'd tell u it would have really sucks big time.

  Out of the pongal releases i saw Vasegrara,dhool and anbe sivam in that exact order. I went to see vasegrara because one of my cousins is a die hard fan of Sneha. Let me tell you thats the last time he is picking a movie!!! The story well..there is no story. The only plus point are the songs.
  Then i saw dhool since it is doing soooooo well in chennai. After watching it i realised "hey even i can make a movie". Only thing i need is foot tapping music, a hero who is second to god and a girl who is prepared to come in minimal clothing and tada....you have got your next blockbuster. Frankly i saw nothing great about this movie. So i decided to skip Sokkathangam and give anbe sivam a go. Lets say i was third time lucky! Dont get me wrong my friends and i saw the movie for Madhavan only but we were amazed by Kamal's performance. Kamal is BACK!!!! After crappy movies like PKS and Panchithantiram, Alavandhan he has proven what a versatile actor he is. Of course we thought Maddy did a great job too.
  
  It really is a shame movies like Anbe sivam are failing. When you look at the movies that have become blockbusters recently all of them are masala movies: kushi, gemini, run, dhool,etc.There is nothing wrong with masala movies comming famous but why cant people learn to appreciate movies like Anbe sivam, kanthil muthamital etc.
  
  I wonder if movies like Nayagan, Mondram pirai etc. would have come famous if they had released now.
  
  Frankly the tamil cinema has lost a lot of its audience. They said that women used to make 50% of the audience during MGR and Sivaji era now they only make 10% of the audience (got that fact from hindu newspaper). Also the age group of movie watchers are mostly from 15-35 years now.

  Producers arent willing to take a risk when they use the same tamil movie formular they think theyll earn the money back. The tamil people should stop listening to movie songs and demand to cut them. The scriptwriters must learn to think in different ways to tell a story. The family sentiment is to much in tamil movies. People are being told they love each other so much and looks sentimentally on every thing a person do. Thats crap. Tv serials arent better either they reminds so much of tamil movies. what do you ppl think?

  A lot or almost all of Shivaji's movies were big hits those days although some of his stories were tragedies and others with strong themes. I am not sure if the same will be true today. As one of the posts pointed out, Moondraam Pirai is certain to fail in the box office today. So the audience now seems to need quick entertaintment without taxing their brains very much (if they have some left). Imagine people like Vijay have made it that far - I fail to understand what he's got(looks-nope, acting-nope, style-nope etc.). Also Vikram who has made Gemini, Dhool, Dil is compared to Rajini and Kamal, what a joke!

  Vijay has made it so far based on remake movies from Telugu.. Speaks volumes about his competence. He can't even choose an original story told by a director.. All he looks for is whether a story has been success in Telugu and wants to make a re-make of that movie.. Crap beyond anything..

  remember not all masala movies are hits !!! ur getting the points wrongly !!!like tat all movies must be a hit rite ...always the fans direction is in a winning movie !!kamals'vickram is a big flop so is vickram's samurai,not all movies could be a hit rite !!! certain movies need the extra punch to be a great hit !

  By the way, what crap this rajeev is talking,if mani and kamal(the lone survivors retaining sensitivity amidst the commercial masalas),already we have lost movie makers like mahendran.Ofcourse tamil cinema will survive without these guys(mani and kamal),but only stupid amman films by the great(??) ramanarayanan and healthy ,world class(???) masalas from the likes of Dharani will rule the day.(almost that only is happening now,does rajev want it to become permanent?)
