A few quick questions:
a. Which is the original? Is it a remake in both languages or do we have the original in one (ex. Hindi) and dubbed over in Tamil?
b. When is it being released in India (Hindi and Tamil)
Thanks in advance

With Deepavali fast approaching, all eyes are set on "Aalavandhan". This is one of the most anticipated releases this season.
Kamal plays dual role - the good guy who's a commando in the Armed Forces. The other one - "Nandu" - the bad guy.
Nandu is foundation upon which "Aalavandhan" has been built - a man whose soul is half man half animal, the "animal" inside him possessed with a compulsive need to accomplish everything that his demented mind thinks up. And in the process, ending up doing things a person with rational mind wouldn't do.
With a character like that, using a human double to picturise the deranged acts of Nandu would be very dangerous. Therefore the animation. These scenes were picturised by director Suresh Krishna and Kamal in consultation with the animation artists.
Example: The scene in which Kamal jumps from one multi-storeyed building to another has been shot in two parts. First, a movie cam has been used to shoot what a man jumping from a multi storeyed building would be. Then, with the support of suspending ropes, Kamal was shot jumping from one of the buildings. Graphics and animation was added.
The result - Kamal leaps from one multi storeyed building to another.
There are so many other instances of such stunts of Psycho Nandu. And these wouldn't have been possible without Graphics and Animation.
Total Infotainment group handling the Graphic work of Aalavandhan burnt lot of midnight oil to complete the graphic work few days ago.

'Aalavandhan' raises one question - can a Tamil film be made on this scale too?
Two factors make this one a stunner -
The intertwined graphics and animation technology.
Kamal's massive frame.
But, 'Nandu' Kamal alone carries the movie on his massive shoulders. This gives the audience a 'One way army' feel. So, the movie drags in other aspects. Especially the screenplay.
'Nandu' Kamal ends up in a mental asylum thanks to the atrocities of his step-mother. Nandu hates women. Hates his younger brother's wife (who'd managed to get herself pregnant before wedding) even more. He decides to escape from the asylum and kill her to 'save' his brother. How the younger brother saves his wife from his lunatic brother forms the story.
This is the mediocre story - screenplay of 'Aalavandhan'. Kamal and director Suresh Krishna have relied solely and very solely on lavishness and magnificence and technology. Result? Nandu does things that nobody else had performed on Indian Screen.
Kamal's cruel face and a huge muscular body intimidates the viewer throughout the movie. He seems to be fighting the battle of raising the standards of Tamil cinema and Tamil audience all by himself. A graceful gesture and beautiful voice modulation that characterize 'Kadavul Paadhi' (song) and Kamal's pace and Vairamuthu's indepth awareness of the character's psyche that reflects in his verses - they all new to the Indian cinema. The audience needs to thank Kamal for polishing their taste buds.
Commands Kamal's majesticity and courage is equally matched by his loverboy acts. As expected, he indulges in some passionate cuddling up with Raveena, under the bedcovers.
With Manisha's appearance, the story gains some youthfulness. Her bad luck makes her appear like his stepmother in Nandu's eyes and this gets her promptly killed.
Other heroes' note: Kamal acts with Raveena, someone that suits his seniority. How many others would dare to do this?
Music has been a massive letdown to many, but it hasn't gone beyond Kamal or his story and screenplay. All praises go to Cinematographer Thiru. Such an intricate knowledge of the nuances of technology at such a young age is very commendable. Don't be surprised if he finds himself in Hollywood pretty soon.
Vikram Dharma, for his turn, has also created magnificence in the climax dual between Kamal and Kamal.
2D animation is new to India. Cartoonisation of real people has created a feeling of awe. Leaping from, multistoried buildings, escaping on a flying balloon - the last half hour of the movie is full of such magical stunts.
Every other scene in the movie overflows with a mixture of magnificence - technological involvement. Normally flashbacks bring welcome relief, but here they make one feel uneasy.
Though this is the usual 'identical' face story, coupled with a bad screenplay, Kamal's pace and the massive muscular body somehow manages to overshadow the defects.
