"You didnt answer my Q regarding "Hindhi fanatic vs hindhi Lover"!!!
Well!! i can see that you saw my point!
You were clever enough not to get into that trap huh!!! "
Come on kavitha! If you are afraid to even 'squeak' about the "Majoritarian" hindhi fanaticism of North Indians - why are you squealing about "Pakistani urdu fanaticism" that led to bangladesh's seccession??!!!
Oh! Ok, I see where you are getting now, Geno. Guess this is going no where but let me try! I answered your Q by trying to distinguish between “love” and “fanaticism” of a language by citing examples in Tamil language/happenings w/in TN. I've no knowledge about Hindi language/history to specifically talk/cite example in Hindi as such!

Contd...
Agree, I’m bad in history, I’m willing to be pointed out to the hindi fanaticism that could have/had occurred in the past! It’s a despicable act. The only fact I know about Hindi is that apart from being a national language, it’s also the regional language of six other states viz. Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh. So, in a word, it qualifies as a majority language or a common “connecting” language for our country besides English.

My point is - Personally, I despise the fanaticism/extremism towards a language be it Hindi or Bengali or Tamil or Kannada or what ever u name it w/in India! Infact, I always thought, our TN people are more accommodative of other cultures/languages though I cited an example regarding Tamil movie stuff where I sensed a ‘shade’ of fundamentalism! Not to be meant that this doesn’t exist in other languages/states. Showing fanaticism is not a solution to counter attack fanaticism!

Hello somebody from (@ palo3.pacific.net.sg),
Sorry about calling u a kid! In a quest to "over-emphasize" the fact that your statement was kiddish, I directly called u a kid! Sorry for that!

Please tell us HOW - the "Fanaticism" of the "Majoritarian" Language Hindhi, should be dealt with - by other Linguistic groups in india?
You know, please enlighten us some words of wisdom regarding how best a "Majoritarian" linguistic fanaticism should be dealt with - as you seem to have an awful lot of solution to that problem.
And always remember the "Linguistic Re-organisation Act 1956", whenever you talk about the rights and responsibilities of Linguistic groups of India.
My Best wishes for you to "Find" solutions - if you already haven't known them.
Keeping my fingers croosed.

Kavitha,
>> I’m bad in history >>
Yep. I can see that,
>>.. I’m willing to be pointed out to the hindi fanaticism that could have/had occurred in the past! It’s a despicable act. >>
Thank you for that "realisation".
>> The only fact I know about Hindi is that apart from being a national language, it’s also the regional language of six other states viz. Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh. >>
Well Bloopers galore there too!
1. Hindhi is NOT "the national language".
2. There is a schedule of national languages, in which Hindhi is also included; but, there are about (approximately) more than 18 NATIONAL languages recognized, by the Indian constitution.
3. Hindhi is just one of the official communication languages - apart from english

4. So what do you think of Rajasthani, Bhojpuri, Mythili et al?!!
Hindhi is just a Official communication & Link language of indian union - even that too - becoz it was sought to be promoted so - by the "vested interest" groups of hindhiwallahs and hindutvavaadis.
Please stop believeing and propagating the 'myth" that "india" won't be integrated if we don't accept hindhi as the main link language.
In fact, it's the other way around. If the jingoists keep claiming that "indian sub-continent" was one - then where was "Hindhi" prior to say a 300 years?!!!
You mean to say "Thamizh" and other Language ethnic groups of india spoke "hindhi" all those thousands of years??
If that is not - then surely you submit and accept that these groups dont belong to "indian region" huh?!!
What kind of idiocy would go into such crass, fanatical, jingoistic propagation of Nationalism = hindhi??!!
