Why is the need for actresses of North Indian origin in Tamil cinema ? This so called trend must have started with the arrival of Kushboo.
Since then, most of the heroines in Tamil cinema are of North Indian origin. It is supposed to be Tamil cinema, not Hindi or Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, etc cinema.
The actresses not only can't act, but they can't even pronounce a single word of Tamil. The heroines that are brought from Bombay into Tamil cinema are rejected to be actresses in Bollywood.
Definetely they can't even match the actresses of South Indian origin. Even actors are turning to be of North Indians like Abbas, Kunal, etc. If nothing is done to rectify this mistake, soon there won't be any Tamil or people of South Indian origin in Tamil cinema. Other South Indian cinema like Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada are also
affected by this crisis.
Before the arrival of these rejected materials, Tamil cinema was flourishing. The actors as well as actresses were all of South Indian origin.
In Tamil cinema, there were gorgeous beauties like Vyjayantimala, Padmini, Nirmala, Devika, Savithri, Lakshmi, Sri Vidhya, Sheila, Sumalatha, Saradha, Jayapradha,to Mathavi, Nadia, Radha, Ambika, Nalini, Meenakshi, Shobana, Madhubala, Meena to right now Trisha. Even the beauties who made it big in Bollywood are of South Indian origin like Vyjayanthimala, Padmini, Hemamalini, Jayapradha, Sri Devi, Meenakshi Sheshadri, Rekha, Aishwarya Rai, etc.
But from the late 80's, most of the heroines in Tamil cinema are from Bombay. Kushboo, Nagma, Simran, Jothika, Mumtaj, Reema Sen, Manisha, Priyanka, Kiran, etc and the list goes on and on. And they only look good with loads of makeup.
Look at Simran without makeup. And what a body(!) Jothika has. These girls only have fair skin. Nothing else. No acting talent, no natural beauty, no Tamil language knowledge, nothing. All they can do is dress scantily and just come and go in movies.
The producers and directors who give chance to these kind of women should give chance to native Tamil women. They even did the same mistake when making a movie abroad. For the movie Junior Senior, most of the shooting was done in Malaysia. They were not happy with the heroine and had to find a girl in Malaysia. The majority of Indians in Malaysia and Singapore are Tamil and besides there are other South Indians. But what did they do ? They did the same mistake that is being done in Tamil Nadu. They casted a Punjabi model by the name of Leena as the heroine
of this movie. Couldn't they find a Tamil or South Indian girl in Malaysia where the majority is South Indians ? Why is this infatuation for North Indians ? We South Indians are best in every way. Why do we need North Indian actresses and actors ? If the story needs a North Indian actress or actor, like the movie Gemini, then it's OK.
But it has become a wrong trend to cast North Indians as heroines and heros in Tamil cinema. What happens to Tamil identity then ?
Come on producers and directors and whoever is responsible for this utter nonsense. Think logically and do the right thing. This is Tamil cinema and is intended for Tamil people. Others have their own cinema in their mother tongue. Don't bring humiliation to Tamil cinema and Tamil culture in general. Please repent. Give chance to
Tamil actor and actresses and if not, atleast actors and actresses of South Indian origin. Most of the cast and crew of Tamil movies nowadays are non Tamil and still we call it a Tamil movie !
Vazhga Tamil. Proud to be Tamil.
