Well
Sirai chalai was a superb movie
Kannathil Muthamittal was also great and the all time best Nayakan.
The should bring out more murder stories witoput the love stories or a adventure movie like Indiana Jones movies

Tamil cinefield is obessessed with the love subject. The industry can't be blamed cos that's what the mass want to see.
Love and fantasy. And like Anesh Ganason has mentioned, those are good films.

Dear Mr.Unmai,
Do not blame the mass that means people. No body in the public shouts at the tamil film industry to
produce the crappy "Love Stories" based films.
Just keep your eyes wide open...
Matrix
Gladiater
Independance day
Indiana Jones Series
Sixth Sense
Appolo 13
Star wars
Insider
God Father series
JFK
Few Good men
As good as it gets
Moulin Rouge
Good will hunting
U571
and so on and on and on and on .....
It is the creativity that is being lacked with the Tamil/Indian film industry.
No creativity-No diversification from Crappy love stories.
Do not blame people for that.

actually, u don't have to avoid love in tamil movies.... at least, don't always make it the prime subject....
look at hollywood movies, they have romances, thrillers, mysteries, actions.... and all kindsa movies.... but all the movies will have some love scenes or somethin....
like, we had a "kaadhal kottai" and ever since they released that movie, all the other movies dat followed were "paarkaamalaeyae kaadhal" kinds..... and how boring does dat get????
we need more movies like "naayagan", "roja", "snekidhiyae"(THIS ONE WUZ VERY DIFFERENT!), mudhalvan, baarathi...and so on....
we're getting sick of movies like BADRI....

Harry Potter, u just referred to English films. I'm talking tamil films and the mass I referred to are the citizens of tamilnadu.
Film makers target mainly on the people living in the villages. They are the 'mass' I'm referring to.
Of course, they go and shout what they want. There is no need to. All you need to do is flood the cinema halls whenever they is a love film being featured, and make urself scarce when movies with stories or controversies are taken (etc. Aalavandan)
All film makers want to make money. Thus, they will only give what the mass wants.

why go to village???
in this forum ,i'm sure many of them are there who r going behind ROJA KOOTAM.fine,i didnt see the movie, may be its gud...but again its a love story.
even today, ther r people who go and make these love based films a big hit....so tu play it safe
we have directors going behind these kind of stories.but i wouldnt deny that there r directors
like maniratnam, priyadarshan and many more..who do not fall under this category.
ONLY WHEN PEOPLE START REJECTING THESE LOVE FILMS,
WILL THERE BE A CHANGE...TILL THAT WE CANNOT DREAM ABOUT THE OSCARS.

But people with nice stories cannot getting the opportunity. I have 3 very nice stories. And i have done a course on scriptwriting from hollywood Jaulin. If somebody gives me the opportunity to direct my 3 stories, I am sure it will be mega hit. All money I will give to poor people and charity.

heyram and aalvandaan
did not do well
coz people do not understand them as they r used
to love stories
therefore producers and actors r afrid to
make different movie as they will lose money

When any producer director can afford makin a movie for artistic or class taste, rather than for a commercial hit, I think we can expect a break from love subject.
Very annoying factor is that, whatever be the theme or story of the movie, LOVE , and DUMB COMEDY is being unnecessarily forced upon.
someone,
"we need more movies like "naayagan", "roja", "snekidhiyae"(THIS ONE WUZ VERY DIFFERENT!), mudhalvan, baarathi...and so on.... "<<<<<<<
RIGHT ON POINT!

what about "Dahalapathy", "Anjali"??, I am also very sick and tired of boring LOVE stories, in the 60's we had "puraana" stories, followed by stories based on revenge during the late 70's and late 80's, but since then most films are loved based, love is just part of life, but love is not just life.
How many times, we going around parks/woodland singing duets with our partners?, how many times us guys go around kicking ten guys @ the same time, without getting hurt, we should make realistic movies like "Kutti", "Katrukenna velli", but then again nobody watches these kind of movies, what 2 do?

Shakti;
It is an Art movie, like kutti, I do not know the actor/actresses name, Arun pandiyan, Kushboo is in it, this film is about war in Sri lanka, I strongly suggest u watch this movie, believe me, u will love it.

Well heyram and alaavandan could not be digested because it was really confusing from the start.
Both movies just did not make any sense.
Well i think the Tamil cinema should think big and not only for the locals only.
It could be a village based movies but cut the normal crap and add much more heavy stuffs and not the normal relatives fighting for the power of the village.
Even a normal story like 'In a nick of time was a superb movies how a father manages to save his daughter and the US president in about three hours.
The whole story was done in a railway station.
Suspense from start to the end.

It's a different topic again.
But good movies r on hit ?
Negative result could cause directors creating love stories. Good example Maniratnam, he gave bombay, Iruvar Thilsey then he had gone to love story Alipayuthey.
If people could not accept it , then how it could be possible to have break for love stories?
- From: arthi (@ 203.199.242.188)
on: Mon Apr 8 14:01:22
exactly ,that was what i was trying tu say.
only if we decide and reject these love stories,
our directors will feel like taking some gud movies...another best example is..
kannathil muthamittal and roja kootam
kannathil was so gud..but still roja kootam is a better hit with a dumb story.and bout songs...the music director who has simply copied songs from pardes(hindi movie)and presented it as all his own tunes in roja kootam is being appreciated better than the songs of kannathil.
even channels like sun tv put roja kootam above
kannathil in their top movies.....and can u believe it..raj tv has kannathil in the 7th position.only if the public welcomes a change..will there be gud movies.

guyz,
don't u all wonder why it's also the same, old, boring love stories that always win the best picture awards as well? sometimes, i wonder why snekidhiyae didn't win enough awards! like, what r these pple in the committee thinking?

tamil dorectors:
NO MORE STUPID MOVIES WITH NO STORY AT ALL. C'MON HOW DO EXPECT US 2 STAY AWAKE WITH SOME OF THE CRAP U PRODUCE? DO U SERIOUSLY THINK THAT IS WORTH INVESTING MONEY WITH THOSE TIME WASTING AND STORYLESS MOVIES U PRODUCE?!! THE SAME LOVE STORIES DAY AFTER DAY!! TAKE URE TIME AND PRODUCE SOMETHING GOOD. BUT DON'T RUSH WITH ANYTHING AND MAKE A MOVIE OUT OF IT!!

it's not upto Directors as I said earlier.
there should be support from State and centrl for good productions not based on love.
Meantime for our society, love is far away from life (mostly), that is why youth and more elders (no age for love) is always willing to bind with love. ie they could enjoy atleast in movies
Even u could watch this forum. so many guys and gals looking for their different taste in love, interest, photos etc.
So if educated people could get rid of this kind of interest and support from government, then there could be positive result.
Nothing wrong with directors.
In my view, directors means Maniratnam, Seran, and some few those who gave different films one or two only.

I find there is nothing wrong in producing more love films as it is only used for enertainment.
I strongly believe love is the heart beat of this world.
If anybody dont like it, please discard.
Now a days films based on other moral subjects will not be useful for life.
We be proud of making love films a success.

there r so many other things in this world other than love...of course i am not against love or love stories.but my point is if we have to aim for the oscars,we should produce more of quality movies like snegithiye , kannathil muthamittal
, mitr etc.producing movies like shajahan, roja kootam and many more wont help bringing up tamil
film industry at all.

New hero, good looking heroine, good songs, LOVE STORY........
a successful formula(majority), in Indian commercial cinema.
What we (I) enjoyed in, for eg. 'Alaigal Oivathillai', 'QSQT', will be enjoyed by the latest younger generation with new faces and new tunes.
We will have to live with it.
