I happened to watch his film 'Pavamannipu' recently.. I know I had seen this film years back
in my boyhood.. but quickly dismissed from my memory as it had no significant fights :-).. but as a matured movie buff, I watched this time. People who criticize him for overact must watch this.. An excellent subtle action.. Only two pieces of overdoses (of action) I found in the entire film.. His hand gestures, voice, facial expression are in near perfection.. there are a bit of inconsistencies in dialogues written for this.. my intention to start this thread is to discuss 'sivaji ganesan' as an actor.. not to just eulogize him.. but put him in true perspective of
what a class act he is in the today's often bland talents!

  Pleas dont compare sivaji with kamal.. its blasphemy. Its like comparing a mountain to a mole hill. kamal's repertore beyond saying ah, ah, ah and dragging his speech interminable is very less. Sivaji as an actor is peerless and incomparable. overacting is the only criticism that has been thrown at him since nothing else can be done. kulama gunama, avan thaan manidan are masterpieces as far as dignified acting is concerned and its simply not possible for me to quote all the movies where he has acted with restraint and realism if one wants to use that term. Sivaji had an uncanny ability to portray how a character has to behave, something which is impossible to learn.
  
  As far as kattoboman is concerned he had to show vehemence as his country is being overrun and his subjects are dying and one cannot be soft and purring like a house cat.. one has to roar like a hurt lion and sivaji has done that perfectly and something which I think no one can do it with such elan and ferocity as well.
  Alas this colossus is no more. THERE NEVER WAS AN ACTOR LIKE SIVAJI AND THERE NEVER BE ONE LIKE HIM AGAIN.

  I appreciate your love on Our greatest Nadigar Thilagam.But at the same time we should admit Kamal is the only actor who can be a scucceser for sivaji.Atleast he is capable of making an attempt to compare with sivaj.

  You are right. Possibly sivaji is the best actor the world has ever witnessed. The generations to come will find it hard to believe that such an actor with blood and soul ever walked upon this earth. He was natural actor and i have never natural acting like this before. Even most of the hollywood actors agree that. Even a recent article in new york times also says that he is best actor ever lived on this earth
