The screen play is somewhat odd. I don't know who will want to see the same story twice within the same film. Although Kamal had tried to explain the story, i feel i couldn't emotionally get into the story. For example, in the first part when virumaandi's grand mother dies i don't know the audience could get the feeling of the death strongly. Also I feel, the second time, when virumaandi's grand mother death is again shown, we don't have much pity for her death. Similarly most of the scenes seem to be taken in a hurry without even have time to explain the audience. I have an inner feeling like kamal changed the story drastically because of the earlier issues in shooting the film. When compared with thevar magan this movie doesn't seem to have much of that in both commercial and ethical values.

Yes Shanti. 'Virumandi' is a clear winner. Thanks to Krishnaswami. He made sure that the movie got its publicity even before its release without Kamal Hassan having to spend too much money. The movie was talked about even abroad. Whatever it is, Kamal Hassan is back at the top. The place he, very much, deserves.
Hey Madhan, did you know that entire staff of Hyundai company watched 'Virumandi'.
Is it? What's the connection for 'Virumandi' with Hyundai?
Even I was surprised. I saw it with my own eyes when I went to Sathyam theatre to watch the movie. Scores of Hyundai company workers had come there along with their families to watch the movie. It is terrific that the Kamal Hassan has such a good following.
Look at the 'Virumandi' factor. How far it has grown. Finally, you also started giving news. Do you have anything else up your sleeve?

Virumaandi or Sandiyar, the film which I hope will be the movie of the year...but it really dissappoint me. I really hate when a sandiyar acting as a clown.
I really loved kamal films those days. Virumaandi can't even reach Thevar magans place. I thought there will be action scenes between Kamal and Napoleon...but...they make napoleon as nothing...
I hope kamal will not direct his film next time.
Anbe Sivam the only Kamal movie i loved recently

Dear Mahendran,
I respect your opinion on Virumaandi and Napolean's role in it. But one has to understand the historical background and the local culture of the area on which the story was based, to fully appreciate the depth of the movie and its characters.
I think Napolean played the part of Nallama Nayakkar very well. Anyone 'lesserr' than Napolean would not have been suitable to achieve the dramatic effect. My humble opinion.

I think Napolean played the part of Nallama Nayakkar very well. Anyone 'lesser' than Napolean would not have been suitable to achieve the dramatic effect. The same can be said for Nasser's role. I would think that a lesser known actor would not have been able to provide the 'punch'.
But a relatively unknown Pasupathi was used to play 'Kotthala Thevan' - and he performed brilliantly! Therein lies the genius of director Kamalhaasan. Using 'star' actors for small roles and new actors for big roles - and getting the best out of them.
Any opinions on this friends?
My humble opinion.
