Ramadoss lashes out at Rajni, calls for boycott of his films

POOMPUHAR: The whole state might be waiting for the release of super star Rajinikanth's latest film BABA, but PMK founder S Ramadoss has chosen to command his Vanniyar followers to boycott the film.

Addressing the annual Vanniyar Women's Festival on the sands of Poompuhar in Nagapattinam district Sunday night, he blasted the actor for being a very ``bad role model'' for the Tamil youth and actually teaching them smoking and drinking.

He also pounced on the media for projecting his party in a bad light and threatened to paralyse the entire newspaper industry in the state if the scribes did not change their ways.

The acerbic Ramadoss's outburst comes in the wake of Rajini's speech in Bangalore on Saturday urging the arrest of forest brigand Veerappan who, incidentally, is also a Vanniyar.

The PMK leader recalled that the actor had described Veerappan a "rakshasa" and noted the brigand was a Tamil. Rajini himself hails from a Bangalore-based Maharashtrian family, but Ramadoss did not refer to that factor explicitly.

"The man who lives in Tamil Nadu and lives on the income provided by the Tamil audience is said to have sold his latest film for a whopping Rs.79 crore, but he has never done any good to the Tamils. He has only spoilt the youth...If he was indeed brave, Rajini should have gone to the rescue of Kannada actor Rajkumar when he was in Veerappan's custody....," Ramadoss jibed.

As his ravings reached a feverish pitch, he commanded the Vanniars not to see Rajni's films or form any fan club for him and finally declared,"His films should not be screened in Tamil Nadu."

He also trained his guns on the media with equal vehemence. He took umbrage over the way a section of the press was damning him as a "tree-feller" simply because a hundred trees were cut down during the agitations demanding reservations for the Vanniars in the eighties.

Regretting that the media would not take note of the planting of two lakh saplings on a single day by the Pasumai Thayagam, an NGO run by his son Anbumani and which focusses on environmental issues, he also found fault with the reporters for constantly badgering him to spell out his stand on the LTTE.

He charged that they only wanted him to make some statement that would lead to his arrest under POTA and reminded them sternly that they had to remember to whom they were selling their newspapers and magazines.

"We're restrained at the moment. Don't provoke us or you will have to pay for it all. If only I go around the state, there would be dire consequences. Suffice it is for me to drop a hint to Vanniar Sangam president Kaduvetti Guru, not a single newspaper would hit the stands," he

  OK. Just a few simple questions...
  
  Rajani is a best actor ( for indian standard ofcourse) and he is a good guy in the most of his movies and helping poor people etc, that sort of typical tamil cinema stunts.Cool everything is fine.
  
  But does he deserve to be the chief minister of Tamil nadu?
  
  should the 65 million strong Tamils allow a non tamil to rule them just because he is good actor?
  
  Kamalahasan was shining in Hindi movies, but how come he could not become chief ministr to Delhi?
  
  If you people are so adamant and if you really want a cinema actor to rule you. If that is a pre-requisite to be the CM of Tamilnadu. Why don't you bring Kamalahasan to politics. ATLEAST HE IS TAMILIAN.
  
  Because every other indian knows tamilnadu tamils are ILICHCHA VAYANKALL.
  
  By the way, my best friend is from Delhi his mother tongue is hindi. He calls me " hey madarasi" or " you choot" ( joking ofcourse).
  What he meant by "you choot". Do you people have any funny names for Hindi or Punjabis.

  Rajini will face ramdas legally. Ramdoss is just a jealous creature, doesn't know what to do.
  Rajini will comeback with a better movie with better substance I watched baba, not very coherent, given the previous fav Badshaah,Padayappa. He just needs to take control of the situation and pacify his fans who are insulted because of the stupid ramadoss. Rajini will be back stronger and better.

  Do not listen to the morons who never had a chance to see this movie, just started commenting on Baba because of jealousy and, please pay no attention to low-class reviews such as the one came out in Webulagam. Webulagam is like whore-house. THey have been paid off to criticise super star's movie.

  Baba is one of Rajini's best movies. Everyone should see this movie with their family.

  Rajinikanth did not just act in this movie. He is there for real and delivers an important message to the people.
  
  The songs and dances are outstanding in this movie despite Rajini's age. A.R.R. has done an excellent job.
  
  I suggest Ramadoss to go see this movie and shut his mouth.

  Here is some statistics of how well the movie is performing from Madras to Kanyakumari....
  The movie is houseful till today? Which planet are you living in? To give you a sample of how full the movie was...
  Chromepet Vetri Theatre - 15th Evening show - 250 people watched the movie
  Villivakkam Royal Theatre - 15th Night show - 300 odd people watched the movie
  Nellai Rathna - 15th evening show - 200 people watched the movie. The ticket rates from second day are 5, 10, 15 and 20 and still no takers for the ticket.
  Nellai Bombay theatre - it is even worse, poor guy opened his theatre only a year back
  Thiruvanmiyur Jayanthi theatre - 16th Aug Noon show maybe 300 people watched the movie
  Madurai Mathi and Annamalai theatre - they cancelled all their morning shows
  Trichy Rambha, Kaveri and Sona - all 3 put together has a seating capacity of 2500, but on the 16th noon show there were hardly 700 people watching the movie that too at Rs.20 as flat rate
  Sankarankoil - it is a disaster from the second show onwards
  Kovai KG complex - It is a total washout
  Pondicherry Ananda and Ram - 16th Morning show total washout
  Madras Sathyam theatre - 16th morning show there were 300 odd people watching the movie at Rs.50 as highest rate
  Madras Albert theatre - Published rate is Rs.75, but the counters were selling at less than Rs.50 from the second day (16th Aug)
  This is just a sample of how badly (disastrously) the movie is performing all over. Will give more up to date news as soon as I have them. No amount of Rajini's publicity stunts will save this movie from the disaster it is.... If you look at the towns and districts listed here it has no Ramadoss effect so you guys cannot even blame Ramadoss for this.
  If this movie should not be called a 'flop' (actually this is the wrong word) then I dont know what is a flop movie.... will come back with more later

  Ok, I will poke my nose but Have you got your brain in your A-s cut you moron? I gave you detail about how many Eelam tamils are in abroad, how much our income compared to average resident of TN.
  I told you, we have the highest diposable income compared to other Tamils in TN. Therfore we spent on Tamil movies which is our main pasttime and I told you how much money in $ we pay for each movie that is 15 times higher someone would pay in ruppees.
  and I gave you detail of how many shows are performed by Indian actors and actresses in canada sponsored by Tamil canadian each year not to mention other European countries. Each show is 100% success and we pay over $ 100 to $ 200 ( approximately 6500 Rs) for each show.
  
  What else you want another survey coupled with statistics detail and a pie chart.
  
  Finally a friendly advise to brother to brother ( after all we both are tamils) get over this "RAJANI CRAZYNESS" LIGHTEN UP. Do something useful try to bring TN people out of this "cinema moham".
