Vedic City established in US

Washington, July 30 - A "Vedic City" has been established
in the United States by followers of Maharishi Mahesh
Yogi, the godman, whose discourses on application of
ancient Indian wisdom in the modern world has captured
the imagination of people around the globe.
Situated in Fairfield, Iowa, the city has been built
strictly in accordance with "Vaastu", with every home
facing east, to gather in the nourishing rays of the
early morning. Two miles south are two golden domes of
the Maharishi University of Management, where residents
go to meditate in the morning and late afternoon.
What is more, money tendered in the new city is the
"Raam" currency, as well as the American dollar, while
the City Charter is the Constitution of the Universe--
defined as the "Unified field of Natural Law, the Will of
God, which adminsiters the ever-expanding universe with
perfect order and without a problem."
Currently, the new city is inhabited by about 200
persons, most of whom are from professions like medicine,
teaching and business.
A release from the Maharishi University of Management
said the city is preparing to celebrate its first
anniversary and is likely to be participated by around
800 "Yogic Flyers"- practitioners of Maharishi Mahesh
Yogi's special meditational techniques - scattered around
the world.
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi claims that all the crises
confronting the world can be resolved only through an
inner transformation of man, within whom "is the light of
God."

Vaastu is more than a myth. It is a traditional theory of architecture outlining guidelines for building design. The traditional practitioners of Vaastu were called 'Vaastu Shastris' whose area of knowledge extended from philosophy to astronomy. The theory of Vaastu is permanent and not bound by any time barrier. It suggests ways in which we can live in tune with the laws of nature.
