Some years back we were strolling the marina beach on a holiday
night.At that time I was staying in Azhar Mansion in Triplicane
(Thiruvallikeni), the Bachelors' Paradise located in chennai near the
Marina beach.The Marina beach is one of the best things in a summer
night in chennai.
There was this meeting conducted by D.G.S Dinakaran a protestant
preacher.We just had a stroll inside the meeting ground.
Dinakaran was speaking in a high pitch again and again repeating some
sentences .He often raised his voice and said things with a lot of
force.
My friend who often reads books related to Hypnotism ,Mesmerism etc
told me that what is going on is mass hypnotism and suggestion to the
lower mind.
Naturally many person saw Jesus Christ and were shouting at high
pitch.At some places frail ladies were jumping from earth as if
possesed by spirits with eyes closed.
Even Dinakaran was looking at some void above with eyes tightly
closed and voice tenses saying again and again that Jesus is there
walking near Arokyamary from Arakonam(later on that lady came to the
stage and disclosed that after he told the third time, she actually
say Jesus walking towards her!).
I narrated one incident to my friend after getting puzzled by this.
Arulmozhi who is a Dravidar Kazhagam(DK) pechalar(speaker) and an
advocate once described this in a meeting that one of her hostel mates
(at law college hostel in chepauk) developed hearing ability after
attending the Dinakaran's meeting.She said that after a few days that
girl lost the hearing capacity again.
I asked my friend as to how this happened if that fellow is am
imposter making psycho-suggestions to the gullible.
My friend explained that with hypnotic suggestions its actually
possible to slightly improve the hearing ability.This , coupled with
the observations of lip movements mightve made the girl 'hear'.Then
since the hypnotic sessions werent conducted repeatedly, she lost
that.
Throughout Tamilnadu and in other places were gullible,poor and
ignorant Tamils live, these types of fellows are mass hypnotising and
then converting the innocent Tamils.
Now copying Dinakaran's Style, in every locality there is a
protestant preacher who does this kind of 'suvisesha vizhakkal'.
In Dinakaran's family itself his wife has become a mass hypnotising
specialist.She claims that Jesus has bestowed her with seven boons(
to cure etc).Dinakaran claimed in one meeing that Jesus came to him
in his bedroom and gave the blue print of kaunya Institue of
Technology at Coimbatore( there the students protested last year
opposing the forced conversions and the financial irregularities).
Paul Dinakaran, son of DGS Dinakaran has also mastered this art
nowadays and has roped in his wife Stella and two kids into
this 'family business'.
I am not against someone preaching the good teachings of Jesus
christ .But the society has to atleast made aware that this is going
on .Since mostly the lower strata Tamils are only falling prey to
this menance, the elite sections which control media , polity etc are
ignoring this epidemic which is fast spreading in Tamilnadu!

When i wrote this in another forum, one Mr.VR mentioned some interesting facts which were brought out by BBC.I am reproducing his post:
..."Some months back, I saw a BBC programme on how these Evangelists are
tricking the gullible through mass hypnostism techniques. One of the
standard tricks is to "cure" somebody on the stage, like some
lifelong cripple suddenly walking or a somebody suffering from a pain
suddenly becoming free of pain and singing the parises of the Jesus,
thanking the evangelist profusely on the stage and so on.
The BBC programme followed the meetings of some very successful
evangelists- There was one terribly popular American postor, who was
a Palestinian Christian; there was another popular American
evangelist , who came from the communist occupied East Germany as a
boy to the US and who went on trips to African countries.
The programme closely followed their techniques, which was mass
hypnotism and it also talked with many scientists and researchers in
the field. The overwhelming scientific opinion was that these
Evangelists were frauds who offered the moon to thir hearers. These
evangelists also collect momey during and after their meetings.
Needless they are also incredibly rich, and some of them have sex
scandals on their back.
The programme follwed who were supposed to have been "cured" on stage
and in no case any cure had taken place; in most cases those poor
people were worse off after their meeting with the Evangelist. It
also described the mass hypnotism techniques; like how the soothing
speech from the pastor first lowers the people's resistance to his
ideas. then he starts suggesting more and more. On the top of it, you
are in a crowd of 20,000 people all shouting the joys of Jesus and
what not. The effect of the crowd chanting has an effect on you ,
which lower your rational faculties. Then when the evangeliost
suddenly raises his hand shouting 'Jesus', you see the whole crowd of
20000 falling down like 9 pins in unison. This impresses any sceptics
around and they also join in the crowd behaviour.
Paradoxically, it is much easier to induce in crowds than in
indivuduals. The more the crowd, the easier it is. This has been
understood by these Evangelsist , apart from dictators like Hitler or
Saddam hussein, who always go for mass meetings.
The programme is a must see to undertand these frauds and charlatans.
Those people, who have been suffering for a long time looking for
miracle cures are especially vulnerable to them "....
