Until the entry (1600AD) of Europeans and British, there was no religion called Hinduism. The people of india (at that time) lived in different parts of the country different cultures and traditions. They had their own gods. They were either created or their fore-fathers. Still in many places and villages in India people worship their forefathers. Some people worshiped "Sun" God, (Suryan: in tamil they called Vellaichamy: Vellai means white because the sun looked white to them, chamy means god), "Cloud or Aagayam" which brings rain and water for their irrigation (they called Karuppa samy; Karuppu means black, they referred to dark black cloud, and samy means again God), "rain" also God for them, it is called "maari" in Tamil, so they worshipped goddess "Mariammal". Like that in many places people had many gods and goddesses with some meaning behind them. But these foreigners who came to India didn't understand anything, because in their countries (Europe and Britain) they had only one religion, that is Christianity. For them, the thousands of gods and their worship was difficult to understand and didn't know what it was. So they brought all cultures and their God together and gave a new name "Hinduism". They thought, people of Hindustan follow Hindu religion. There was no word called region in India. The "problem makers of the world"-the British named it. Why do we need to accept aliens’ definition and name? If you are Tamil, be as a Tamil and if you are a bengali, be as bengali but you don’t have to be Hindu which was introduced by the ignorant foreigners. You can be an Indian, because you are from that country. Indian is more appropriate than Hindu.

What about the Gods "Sudalimadan", and "chollamuthu", "Iayyanar", "Ondiveeran", "Kaalaveeran"...and so many thousands of Gods? If they all belong to Hinduism, why these Gods are not worshiped in the north india?
So my dear Indians, please THINK. Why do we have to follow a religion which has got "varying" (not one rule for all) rules and regulations for different people of the same country? Why the so called upper class community only become "priest" "poojari"? Why? Now we all are educated and know what is right and good. So think as an educated, and wise Indian.
