"If Prabhakaran rules Trincomalee, he is, by definition, India's friend. This is a simple calculus of self-interest. "

So it is the Congress which is hell opposed to negotiations with the LTTE. But this is also the deadlock. No foreign desicions can be made without the approval of the congress(the main opposition party) since that is how the indian constitution is shaped.

There has also been a set back in Bofors. We need more evidence to pull down Rajiv Gandhi (good riddance to bad rubbish anyway). Once Bofors is In, Rajiv Gandhi is permanently out and once the BJP wins by a landslide in 2004 - there will be a remarkable change to India's Lanka policy.

By that time, lets hope Chandrika is also out of power. It would be great if both of the trouble makers - the Congress and Chandrika are out for good.

I also heard N Ram's newspaper 'The Hindu' is loosing out. Soon, the hindu should also cease to become a major force in south india.
