the tanjavur big tepmle is the evidence for the labour of our dravidians and symbol of brahmins' ''pithalAttam''. the big temple is the brahmins' habit of eulogising the kings as the avadars of gods to fill their stomach . through out india it was\is the common phenpmena.the devadana and devadheya given by the chola kings sustained the lasiest brahmins in tamil nadu with prosperity.the materials to provide these danas were collected as taxes from the labourers who produced food to sustain both the brahmins and the kings.we can be proud of this temple for our forefathers' talent for having constructed such a huge building, but no dravidian should be proud of this since it was built during the chola period .

Acharya,
U have converted what is essentially a post on gathering details of an architectural wonder into a brahmin - non brahmin issue.
And U say that U are a rationalist?
Strange rationalism. What is the pleasure U guys derive from seeing every post as a b-nb issue?
and U say that religion divides people? U guys are enough to do that.

\\and U say that religion divides people? U guys are enough to do that.\\
if one is a rationalist it does not mean that he has to keep quit for all nonsense religious activities .in my answer purely i have pointed out the labour of a particular linguistic group of people called dravidians.when i use the term i do not use it in the sense in which some people use the cate terms!!! do not doubt in my rationalism

I am only saying that U see every issue from a b-nb angle. Anyway, I do not want to argue with U on your rationalistic leanings. I am not bothered anyway.
My point is this topic is about the details regarding the Big Temple. If U have any valuable info, post it. Otherwise reserve your comments on anti brahminism to some other topic in this forum. There are enough topics for brahmin-baiting where U can abuse brahmins to your hearts content & derive pleasure.
After all rationalism means anti-hinduism (via) anti-brahminism. Carry on.
Only sad fact is that U rationalists have just not opened your mouths when it comes to caste conflicts in other religions. If at all U have done so, it has been very meek. U just do not want to accept that. That is all.

\\After all rationalism means anti-hinduism (via) anti-brahminism. Carry on. \\
hiduism and brahminism are part of mataphysical elements.if language is considered as idendity of a particular group people, casteism is to distinguish and divide people.language also should be used to comunicate ,not for politics .in the case of sanskritfor temple purpose,it is understood only by few people, while a large majority of people do not know sanskrit.if we rationalists point out this mistake ,it is anti-brahminism for brahmins and anti-hinduism both for sanskritised and brahmin hindus.what can i do except laughing at the ignorance of RATIONALISM

Acharya,
U are either missing the wood for the trees or are refusing to see it. I am only pointing out that U so called "rationalists" turn a blind eye when it comes to crticising other religions.
1 clear cut incident was when the Lord Ganesha idols drank milk. Instead of seeing the matter from a scientific angle, the rationalists immediately went to town saying that it is false etc., etc., Week after week in chennai, there were christian meetings (and still are, though with lesser frequency now) which openly proclaimed that "blind can see, lame can walk & deaf can hear" after a prayer meeting. Have U guys ever dared to question this?
Opposition should be uniform, not selective.U have still not ansered to this query so far.
If U continue to keep harping on the same old anti brahminism, anti hindusim theme, then it is we have to laugh at your ignorance.

Today anti brahminism is a dead horse. Do not try to flog it. Be practical. Even karunanithi tried to play the b-nb card after his arrest, but it did not cut ice.
Be realistic. Don't view all bs as evil (like your mentor EVR) & see the world with colored glasses.
However, 1 thing is to be appreciated. Most of the nbs in these forums are "united" in their opposition to bs. It is a pity that even here , this unity is "selective".(like your rationalism).
It would do U guys a lot of good if U "unite" for more beneficial activities.

\\Today anti brahminism is a dead horse\\
but some of them want to ride on the dead horse to sustain their varanshram dharma.i know many brahmins still following the achAram-not allowing non-brahmins into their home, wearing ''poonool''that distinguish between barhmin caste and non-brahmins,the same vedic manu mantras that say sudra ''the sun of pro*stitute, not allowing n-bs to be the priests(give answer for tihs*) why??? why???? why??????

Acharya,
Not only brahmins, even "aacharis" (jewellers sect)& a few mudaliar sects wear the sacred thread. Agreed that some brahmins still practise untouchabaility. But they are not alone in that. Many nb sects still do not with respect to SC/STs.
The 2 tumbler system still prevailing in some villages & the cheramadevi temple car festival which has not been held for the last 3 years (reason being the nbs did not allow the dalits to touch the temple car) are clear instances.
I am not justifying these acts of brahmins, but it is happedning among the nbs alos. No one has ever equestioned that. All the caste clashes that hve occurred so far have been between harijans & vanniyars, thevars & dalits etc. Brahmins are not involved here.
U cannot wish away history. U must oppose the practise irrespective of who is doing that. This is not happening.
