If you have alternate visions of tamil future do write.Whichever caste the tamil may belong to,whatever may be his religion he has to tune himself mentally for the shocks he is going to receive in the future.HIS CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN ARE NOT GOING TO BE EVEN A BIT LIKE HE WANTS THEM TO BE.

1.rigveda declares-vasudeiva kutumbakam-the world is one family.the conceapt of caste and race is more becoming a part of literature and will start being discussed in the same manner in which we discuss the role of monarchy .in this small world,it is possible to reach usa from chennai faster than say a small village in kanyakumari district.the effect will be mind boggling.language in 2 centuries from now will become incosequential,a global language a variation of english will come to rule.tamil words will be interspersed when the need arises in families where both parents are tamils.the rubbish of the aryan dravidian discussion will be attenuated by more than 95% by the time 95 years happen to pass.tamil works will be translated by the computer into available language form of english.so we will see a generation disinterested in using tamil as a language at home.friends will be closer than relations.caste will not be the driving factor behind marriages.food habits and religion will continue to. but in any case relatives will come from many diverging background. let me give you an example-
dr.senthil is a beef eating tamil born in a family of chettiar ancestors. his mother was a nair. his wife is a girl from bihar settled in chennai where dr. senthil works. the girl's brother is married to a parsi. the brother follows parsi and hindu customs both. his daughter rose has married a boy with brahmin ancestors and has become a vegetarian herself. the boy wears sacred thread and even does sandhyavandanam. his wife is the one who will take care of his house puja. the boys parents are a mixture of kannada and up brahmins, his brother murugan is married to a muslim. he visits mosques.his wife does not visit temple, but she reads hindu spiritual literature. she also practises yoga. murugan does not read religious literature but he definately visits both mosque and temples. senthil's nair mother's brother married a girl with an intercaste mix with a brahmin girl.her father had a menon/christian background.but the nair family celebrate both hindu and christian festivals.disposal of the dead in this family is done by means of an electric cremation and chants from vedas by a non brahmin priest.also a prayer is offered in various places of worship for the dead.in such families, how can anyone preserve language?.religion will be adopted as per one's pleasure and happiness.rituals will be ,without restraint taught by the practioners of that ritual to anybody who seeks initiation. there will be no hue and cry about conversion.a muslim visiting a hindu temple will merely be advised by his spiritual teacher to stop wating time . a christian father may as well bring idols of ayappa and muruga or guruvayurappan right into the church prayer hall.the church service besides being conducted in ways which preserve ancient christian elements may bring hindu elements like aarathi and naadaswaram.western music will be played in hindu temples.hindu temples will have both non brahmin and brahmin priests. of course this prediction is only for the 23 rd century after which the sharp distinctions between brahmins-non brahmins will keep reducing.

2.conceapt of dress-dress will be simple.shorts at home.loose pants and shirts for work.the same for men and women.in india the conceapt of dress will be more in tune with temperature.people working in air conditioned environment will prefere the above dress.in other conditions shorts may come to be accepted as part of even office dress.ladies will tend to prefer shirts much large in size than their real size as the emphasis will be towards comfort.this dress i suspect will be the dress worn to even religious functions and ceremonies, except among a very very small minority of families.even tamil women would like to spend their evenings in baywatch style on the beach.disgusting we might say today.but i guess it is time we understand that it is all in the mind to decide what is vulgar and what is not. comfort i am sure will dictate future dress.

3.conceapt of marriage-a very interesting thing to analyse but at the end of analysis you are likely to become gloomy if you think about 200 years from now ,about tamils in the 23 rd century.i am pretty sure about the power of women and their desire for family and stable life.men need women for mental comfort.women rather require a family.so where is this cycle of divorces likely to lead us to?we are going towards a matriachal society.the mother will lead the house.she is also the bread winner.the guy she loves will live with her(no ceremonies for love, marriage will be based on mutual understanding,no requirement for marriage registration or rituals.only child's registration based on dna samples).the child will understandably grow with mother unless she abdicates the reasponsibility.i dont see tamil society grow wicked 200 years from now.so child will not be given up by mother.the male will move out without hassles ,perhaps merely a parting with tears, when the women shifts out of city or when he has to leave the city due to compulsions. contact will be there, but life will any way be too busy for people to be too frequently in touch.moreover homosexuality will not be a taboo at all.this is clear.one may find it angering us today but i just have to say that what is wests's experiencee will also be east's experience.also intercaste relationship will be more hassle free in the new society.look let us say, boy is a nonvegetarian, girl is a vegetarian, they may have problem in being under one roof but will they have a problem in stealing some moments in the car or in the home of one of them.love but dont have to stay together.love the guy or girl without restraint ,and like as many people as you want to like-this will be the new age mantra.this is but inevitable unless some major avataram of vishnu takes place to change the people.at work the lovers will always be together-from dawn to dusk, so will love be a problem? and does it need live in relationship.thus as i said ,the mother will take care of the child.she will be the ruler of the family.

4.life for children-from birth, the child will be with the mother .the child will also visit father occasionally.the child will follow the mother's beliefs in early life.from maturity there will be complete interaction with other boys and girls.a relationship not tainted by any kind of isms.with age growth, conceapt of love and its pleasures will be naturally explored without restraint but with precautions.education will stress both on the intellectual and the physical.study will be practical rather than mere mug up or theoritical.classes will be held in homes through the use of cyberspace.however practical learning will involve interaction with other children.play and yoga will become popular like coffee, though i suspect coffee will loose favour.the characteristic coffee tamilian will dissappear with health conscious tamils on the prowl.education will impart necessary skills for attaining great goals and also for survival.after education, according to work and friends circle ,the child will himself shift out from home.

5.food-tamils as i know are more spiritual than anybody else.moreover the new age is health conscious.i see vegetarians to be on the increase.even oily vegetarian foods will be spurned.milk will no longer be called vegetarian.non vegetarians will also live on low fat diet with plenty of vegetarian food.

6.in the future will tamil be part of india? -funny i only see people coming closer not go apart.conceapt of nationhood will be less and less meaningfull.it will merely be there for administrative convenience.india will continue to be the larger block .states will be dissolved.districts will acquire much greater powers more like presentday states.no tamil nadu in the future sorry.only tiruchi, arcot, tanjaoor, madurai, tirunelveli and so on.in any case this division will be only for administarive convenience, but the people of the different districts will be much closer than they are today.

7.as a result of global interaction i see the future tamils to be generous ,broadminded , honest, spiritual, simple and kind.
