I came accross this article in rediff.. I think it would be a great way to donate and help our fellow countrymen! Hopefully this thread will not be taken over by the resident lunatics (please the anti-socials are not welcome)

or you can go donate through their own website, noting the exact project that you want the money to go to. From what I hear this organization is very legitimate, and they do great in actually using the resources for the projects. They also have some great plans about water management and such, this will help to replenish the water levels in the area. Which are dangerously low.

I am very active in the water management/agricultural improvements in India, this is one of my pet projects. I would really recommend anyone wishing to help out, in doing this little bit thats possible for everyone, especially people in foreign nations.
